Caleb Holman at Woodstock School in India

Caleb Holman is currently teaching at the Woodstock School in India. Currently he is expanding the Woodshop program at the school in order to offer training to more students.  In addition, he is working on training and certifying the life guards at the school.  All of this in addition to his primary role as house parent in one of the dorms.  works with approximately forty 10th and 11th grade boys.  It is important to Caleb to get to know each boy as an individual, and to have the wisdom to help them with their needs, to show Christ to them and to answer their questions.  Caleb requests prayers for God's wisdom in whatever extra work he is doing, so he is where God wants him to be, yet not over doing.
In the near future he has several camping/hiking trips planned with the boys: a hike next weekend (Feb. 25-27), and overnight March 18-19, and some activity during the quarter break on March 24-27.
Caleb is also looking into where and what God would have him to do next year.  Please pray for the wisdom and energy to do the things now that will prepare him for next year.  Many at Woodstock would like him to remain there, but he has also applied to Duke University’s Master of Public Policy program.  Please keep him in your prayers, that God’s will for Caleb’s life would be abundantly clear.

News from the Dominican Republic

There are not words to describe the last eight days.  Places in my heart were opened up that I didn’t know existed.  Love grew in places where I have never had feelings.  Like a tree that springs forth out of the crags and rocks on a mountainside, hope has exploded in a desolate and barren place.  I will write a little each day to try and give you a picture, but no picture will be sufficient to explain the work that God is doing through the lives of the people in the Dominican Republic.
We prayed for the blind to see, we literally spit in people’s eyes and smeared mud on their faces and called down miracles.   We treated a four month old baby’s hand for severe burns, got antibiotics to a little girl who had gotten knocked over by a motor cycle, we held hands with children who followed us through the streets, wanting a taste of the Hope that we brought.  We danced and laughed and washed women’s feet.  We touched the “untouchables” with growths and tumors.  We held babies who don’t have diapers because they cost too much.
We taught women to use sewing machines.  We gave them lessons on how to make projects, beaded necklaces, headbands, things to sell…and gave them envelopes to save their money to buy more. We washed their feet, massaged lotion into their weary muscles.  We danced and laughed and praised God together.  They will forever be in our hearts.  I sobbed as I got on the plane yesterday and took my last glance back at the people we were leaving behind.  I didn’t want to leave them.  I have to back to see them.  I will go back.  They are forever a part of my heart.
God is REAL….and He is big.  And he speaks and he moves and he cares deeply about the details of our lives.  Thank you for checking in.  Back in a country with consistent electricity, I will share stories.  Be in touch.            ~Jayne Spear

Serve the City...Amsterdam

Susy and Brian Newman are leading a team to Amsterdam from June 1-8 (dates are approximate) to work with Serve the City. The nucleus of this team will be from Lookout. However, folks that are not part of Lookout are welcome to join the team also.

Please think, pray, and dream about being part of this mission team. It will be a great trip; Serve the City is an amazing experience as hundreds of volunteers bless the underprivileged in Amsterdam (including refugees, Muslim immigrants, prostitutes, drug addicts, and the homeless, among others).

An information meeting will be held on Sunday, February 20th after the worship service at noon. More trip details will be available at that time. Please join us, and pass along this information to others as well.

Check out the one-minute promo produced by the good folks of Serve the City in Europe. It's amazing. Here is the link:

Heading to the Dominican Republic

The DR team is heading out on Friday, February 4.  Their bags are full of materials which will be useful to Dominican women as our team partners with them in establishing new sustenance and income opportunities.  Please pray for safe travel, sweet times of fellowship within the team and with the women of La Victoria, and for God's hand to be in all they do.
